Continental drift: Wegner's idea that the continents slowly moved over Earth's surface
Fossil: any sign of an ancient organism that has been preserved in a rock

Outline

The Theory of the Continental drift

  • Evidence from Landforms
    • Wegner noticed some strande things like mountain ranges on two different continents linning up perfectly and that South America's right side looks like it would fit right next to Africa left side.
  • Evidence from Fossils
    • Wegner pointed out that the fossils of a reptile's fossil has been spoted in two different places when the reptile didn't have the ability to trvel nor swim that far.
  • Evidence from Climate
    • He also pointed out that on an ice-covered island, in the Artic, some people found fossils of tropical plants.

Scientist Reject Wegner's Theory

  • Wegner continues
    • Even though the scientists reject Wegner's theory he kept on going
      • He even came up with another explanation on which how mountains form
